"body": "Gin + Tonic 🍋 We had a magnificent experience at @esperancedistilleryco with friendly + energetic James who is the co-founder along with his Dad, David. They only have just opened their doors TWO weeks ago! As soon as we walked in, James greeted us with a HUGE smile on his face + gave us an equitable service [like seriously full-on clearly explained us the process of how they make their gin and shared stories]. The experience was totally accessible, we communicated together in many different ways [e.g. gestures + writing] and James is pretty knowledgeable, he took the time to explain about the distiller, berries, plants e.t.c! Had to show him how to sign Gin + Tonic [disclaimer: this sign is actually from France, but we love it so much and adopted to use it here in Australia, as there’s no Auslan signs for Gin + Tonic!] The cherry on top is that their Gin is soooo good! We highly recommend for you to try theirs!",

I actually had a 4:15pm flight, arrived airport 45 mins before as have already checked in, but then my phone got flat, so tried to print the ticket but wouldn’t work..then I discovered that my plane actually departs from international terminal, obviously this means I will miss my flight! I bawled out my eyes and they put me on the next flight that departs two hours later! Whilst waiting, I noticed two pilots having coffee together, I couldn’t resist but to teach them how to sign pilot! 😜 On side note, I’m so sorry that I have not posted anything in the past few weeks, have been taking some break to recharge myself! Now I am back! 🎉",

"body": "HELP || We had a BBQ event at Bunnings Bibra Lake to fundraise funds for Deaf Youth Australia. I met this young person, Luka whilst waiting for other staff. Explained to him about my project, asked what sign he wants to know. He took a moment to think and I could see that he truly thought about it deep + deeper, then he smiled and asked how to sign ‘Help’. We met this artist, @rosspotter_artist who invited our eldest son to contribute in a square piece of drawing for Tricia the Elephant Collaborative piece. [240 participants + 272 square pieces over 4 days!]. Taught him how to sign ‘Elephant’ The exhibition has been extended to 28 Jan, so if you are based in WA, make sure you visit this wicked exhibition with little ones! So much fun especially with the craft activities outside, best of all is that it costs nothing! YAY!",

"body": "GRASS || We have lived in our home for nearly 2 years, we have met most of our neighbours but there is a house opposite us who we regularly ‘waved’ at us but had NO CLUE what their names are + who lives there! In the past 6 months, we see our neighbour more regularly, he often stand and water his lawn in the evening, our dining room has a massive window, we can see him clearly and often becomes our dinner time conversation. [haha] We always wondered who lived there as there are 6 of them. Tonight, I finally made a move & approached my neighbour, introduced myself, explained my project, taught him how to sign ‘grass’, giggled that it’s so easy to kill the grass but it is SO HARD to grow grass, clarified who lives there and at ours. A challenge for yourself from me, meet your neighbours! It’s not that awkward like I thought! 🙊",

"body": "PELICAN || There is an awesome Pelican Feeding presentation in Kalbarri run by a group of volunteers every morning from 8:45-9:45am. Very interactive, kids got to feed the pelicans. [Good to know: they only feed 2KG of fishes every morning, regardless of how many pelicans - 5 or 20 pelicans, so they don’t rely on humans to feed them] After the presentation, I approached one of today’s volunteers, Joan and showed her how to sign Pelican! 🙊",

We highly recommend @kalbarri_wagoe_beach_quad , they are very friendly + thoughtful, typed up notes of the instruction and all important things we had to know prior our arrival! Love it when people think of alternative ways to communicate with us independently. Taught the owner, Ashley how to sign ‘adventure’! 😜",

"body": "SWIM || My eldest son participated in Vacswim swimming program run by the state govt during Oct + Jan school holidays! Brilliant program- cheap, informative + accessible! Interpreter provided, yes they go in the water as well!! I was fortunate to have the day off work so I could watch him swim + get his certificate. Afterwards, his swim instructor, Simon told me that his niece is doing Auslan course at TAFE at the moment! Of course I had to teach him how to sign ‘swim’ 😜 He loved it!! 👌🏼",

"body": "GOOD MORNING || I commute to work via @transperth_wa every day at exactly the same time, so there are many other commuters I see regularly. There is a commuter, Shane who regularly wave + smile, today I approached and told him about the project I’m doing. Taught him how to sign Good Morning, How are you?, Good, Bad + Thank You! He was beyond thrilled, downloaded Instagram, added me, learnt all the signs posted to date! So so beautiful! What a great way to start my day!!",

"body": "SUNSET || 🌅 Went to Coogee Beach tonight with my husband for the first time.. yes we have been together for 8 years but never seen a sunset by the beach together in Australia!! 🙈 Anyway, this person sat by himself and watched the sunset alone, I couldn’t resist my temptation and approached him! I showed him three signs- sunrise, sunset and beach! 🏖 After that, his face started to glow and he had a smile on his face!! 😀 I told my husband that I hope I have planted in an idea 💡 for him to learn Auslan and then maybe become an interpreter!
